&#lt;p&#gt;I’m really disappointed that my mate did not come and join me in the shower like I

&#lt;p&#gt;thought she would, so when I’m done drying off, and get dressed, I go in search of her.

&#lt;p&#gt;My senses take me to the nursery where I find her sound asleep in the rocking chair with
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;both pups in her arms. Holden’s head is on her shoulder with drool hanging from his
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;mouth, soaking her shoulder. Asher is cradled in her other arm, blowing milk bubbles in
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;his sleep.

&#lt;p&#gt;carefully try lifting Holden off of her, but her grip tightens and then suddenly there is a
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;growl, and her eyes are open with Tala’s glowing eyes staring back at me. Once she
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;realizes who I am, she snaps out of it.

&#lt;p&#gt;“Has Jonah contacted you yet? I don’t know if he tried linking me while I was sleeping. I
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;was obviously in a deep sleep.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“I haven’t, babe.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“Ugh, I’m not going to be able to sleep until I know how the patient is.” She starts pacing
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;the floor until I take hold of both her shoulders, stopping her.

&#lt;p&#gt;“Seriously? You were just snoring logs a moment ago. There is no sense in getting all
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;worked up. Let the guy rest; he took a pretty bad hit to the skull.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“What if he wakes up and escapes?” She glances up at me like she doesn’t already
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;know that I have guards placed outside his door, window and every entrance to the&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p/&#gt;

&#lt;p/&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;hospital already.
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“I highly doubt he will be waking up anytime soon, if he wakes up at all.” I kiss her
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;forehead, “If it will make you feel better, just link Jonah and ask him for an update.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“What if he’s in the middle of a surgery or something?”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“Quinn, you won’t know unless you try, and if you don’t try then you will never know.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;My mate bursts out laughing, “Did you just hear yourself?”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“What’s so funny?”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“You just said the same exact thing except in a different order.”
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“Well, you get the gist. Now, link the doctor and find out, because I would really like to
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;take my mate to bed now.”

&#lt;p&#gt;To Quinn’s dismay, Dr. Sands informs her that he has put the stranger under a medically
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;induced coma, so he can heal properly. The blow he took was actually multiple blows
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;and he should be dead from it, so the Doc is keeping a close eye on him over night and
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;will check-in with Quinn again in the morning.
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“See, babe, there isn’t anything you can do about it right now. Let the male rest and
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;maybe he will be up for visitors at some point tomorrow, if Jonah pulls him from the
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;coma.”&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p/&#gt;

&#lt;p/&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;“Fine, but I’m going over there myself, first thing in the morning to see for myself what
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;kind of condition he’s in.”

&#lt;p&#gt;“Okay, but at some point, I would like us to go over to my pack to take care of a few
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;things. I need to check in and as their new Luna, you should probably show yourself as
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;well.”

&#lt;p&#gt;“Oh Goddess, you’re right! Look at me, I’m already shirking my duties as your Luna!”

&#lt;p&#gt;I pull her into me, “Oh, you’re shirking your duties as my Luna alright, but it isn’t from

&#lt;p&#gt;pack business.” I grin deviously, “I think you should probably start making up for it here
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;in the next few minutes.”

&#lt;p&#gt;Her eyes widen before she glares at me, “I don’t think that is the department that I am
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;shirking my duties in. If anything, I feel as though I’m an over achiever! I’m thinking my
&#lt;/p&#gt;
&#lt;p&#gt;Alpha needs to pick. up some of that slack!”

&#lt;p&#gt;I can feel Duke flash across my face one moment, and the next I’m picking her up and

&#lt;p&#gt;tossing her over my shoulder, “I’ll pick up the slack!”

&#lt;p&#gt;“Oh my Goddess. Declan!” My mate giggles and then slaps my a*s.
